Official Objection to Barratt Homes Planning Application

Official Objection to Barratt Homes Planning Application

As members of The Friends of Hogshaw, we have taken a proactive stance against Barratt Homes’ proposed housing development in Buxton. Today, we presented an official objection letter, accompanied by the petition and objections signed by concerned residents, to the High Peak Borough Council. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals who supported and signed the petition and wrote objections to the planning application, joining us in raising grave concerns about the lack of flood risk mitigation measures. Our objection serves as a testament to our commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring the safety of the community.

Flood Risk Mitigation

At the heart of our objection lies the alarming absence of adequate flood risk mitigation measures in Barratt Homes’ development plan for the residents downstream from the development. Buxton and in particular this area, has a history of flooding, and the proposed housing development would exacerbate the risk for both existing and future residents. We strongly emphasise the need for comprehensive flood risk assessments and the implementation of effective measures to safeguard the community from potential devastation. Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of the residents in the face of increasing flood risks.

Looking Ahead

Our objection and the petition signed by concerned residents are just the beginning of our ongoing efforts to safeguard Buxton’s environment and protect the community from flood risks. We will continue to advocate for responsible development that prioritises the protection of our natural assets.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the individuals who supported and signed the petition against Barratt Homes’ proposed housing development in Buxton. We acknowledge their commitment and passion for safeguarding our community. Together, we stand united in our objection.
