Working party for litter picking

Organised working party to remove surface level litter within the Hogshaw Railway Bridge area.

Good-gripping footwear and gloves are advised and there will be some light lifting and possible work on sloping ground.

There is a great deal of plastic sitting on the surface, some from tree-stem wraps.  About one-third of the planted tree fringe (installed when the banking was stabilised) have died, so they ought to be removed, along with their supporting canes and useless, often fragmented tree-stem wraps.

We are aware that the site was constituted from an old tip, so will not carry out any deep-digging, which may disturb settled contaminants, which may be harmful to health.  If you have any details about the history, particularly the material land-filled, we would be obliged to learn about it.
