SUMMARY:Working party for litter picking
DESCRIPTION:(Meeting point: Hogshaw Railway Bridge) \nOrganised working party to remove surface level litter within the Hogshaw Railway Bridge area. \nPlease email Friends of Buxton Station (fobs.buxton@gmail.com) to come along and help out the local community. \nGood-gripping footwear and gloves are advised and there will be some light lifting and possible work on sloping ground. \nThere is a great deal of plastic sitting on the surface\, some from tree-stem wraps.  About one-third of the planted tree fringe (installed when the banking was stabilised) have died\, so they ought to be removed\, along with their supporting canes and useless\, often fragmented tree-stem wraps. \nWe are aware that the site was constituted from an old tip\, so will not carry out any deep-digging\, which may disturb settled contaminants\, which may be harmful to health.  If you have any details about the history\, particularly the material land-filled\, we would be obliged to learn about it.
